I'm not...in love with this video, but neither am I with Born This Way. I like both of the videos, but they're in the category of 'that's great, but uh...'. For the most part, the cinematography of this video is fantastic, except the part where Katy is floating in the white dress. You can tell she's in front of the screen and frankly, it looks lame. Of course, the video isn't real, but having everything blend is nice.

Continuing on, I think the story flows quite nicely too. She's an alien, he's alien to her, he's the last of the human race, blah, blah, blah. Overall, the story is done with taste. Then it gets weird. I understand the need to have the mating animals and all (it's the circle of life and all that jazz), but it's still not necessary. The only part of the video that ties the mating into everything else is Katy turning out to be a half deer alien. However, I would cut the entire mating section out entirely, because in the end, doesn't do much for the video.

Might I also note that the beginning of the video is very Fallout and Bioshock reminiscent, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that's where she got the idea. I've noticed a general trend in apocalyptic/fantastical medias beginning with some kind of old school song, most of which turns out fairly well.

So, the end verdict is a
